Data Recollection Effort
The measure and list crew hired by the Board of Assessor's and the Town of North Reading completed their inspections in August 2006. Our goal was to ensure that our data on every parcel is correct and up to date. Over the past three year’s, the town was measured and listed for exterior purposes with interior inpections also.
Exterior listing and measuring is only part of the data recollection process. The other part is reviewing the interior of properties as well. Our thanks goes out to those homeowners who to date have allowed our data collectors entry to their homes. The interior inspection takes only a few minutes and we do ask that if you are home when a data collector visits, please let them in if it is convenient for you to do so.
The town contracted with Vision Appraisal Technology to perform the data collection. They are an industry leader and have served over 100 municipalities in Massachusetts for 30 years. Data collectors had available proper identification as well as a letter from the Board of Assessors for further verification. These collector's were registered with the Town of North Reading Police Department and have visual identification on their vehicles.
The end result of our data recollection efforts will be more accurate property assessments that will ensure that everyone pays their fair share of the tax burden, ameliorating those instances in which some may overpay or underpay their share.
